Steve paints in the style of Edward Wesson and is the co-author of “The Watercolours of Edward Wesson”. His years of experience in teaching, coupled with his outstanding artistic ability, have made him a very popular and successful tutor.

Steve was born in Bath, and grew up in the St Catherine Valley at Batheaston. In his formative years his passion to become an artist was inspired by the beautiful countryside he lived in. Educated at Bath Technical School, the City of Bath and the Huddersfield colleges he spent much of his working life teaching building and architecture in Essex and Kent. In 1994 Steve took early retirement and escaped into a world of watercolour painting where he was finally able to fulfill his childhood ambitions. He now runs watercolour courses at Bradford on Avon, Abergavenny and along the north Norfolk coast and is a workshop instructor for EPC in Catalunya, Spain. He exhibits regularly at local venues and galleries.

Steve was greatly influenced by Edward Wesson, so much so, that he was the co-author of the very popular book “The Watercolours of Edward Wesson”. More recently he has published “Trevor Chamberlain: England and Beyond a Celebration of Sixty Years of Painting” as well as a new DVD named “Watercolour Through the Seasons”.

Steve has quickly established himself as a watercolourist of great ability and his paintings have been sold worldwide. His years in teaching, coupled with his outstanding artistic ability, have made him a very popular and successful tutor. It has also won him the respect of his fellow artist and the students who have benefited from his tutorship and his profound knowledge of the medium of watercolour.

He's a fantastic tutor, a very kind man who finds time for individual attention as well as demonstrating during the day, taking students work and showing where it went wrong and how to fix it or discussing a paining DVD with the group. Steve’s always ready to give tips on how to simplify your painting and take the essence of the subject you are painting without overworking it. He’s a master in the art of painting fresh simple watercolours that he transmits to every students, no matter his level, with great generosity and pleasure.
